Evanescence is a Band American alternative rock founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1998 by vocalist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording two independent EPs, Evanescence EP and Sound Asleep, and a demo called Origin in 2000 with help from the record company bigwig Enterprises, la Band launched its first studio album, Fallen, with the label Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 14 million copies around the world and Band won two Grammy awards as a best new artist and another for best hard rock interpretation. A year later, the banda launched its first live album, anywhere but Home, which sold more than 1 million copies around the world. In 2006, la band launched its second studio album, The Open Door, which has sold so far just over 7 million copies (2 million in the United States and 5 million worldwide). Throughout his career, the band has suffered abrupt changes in its alignment, as the departure of co-founder and guitarist Moody in 2003, guitarist John Lecompton and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007, Lee was the only member of the original band.
